Product Description

IRIS by Starck is a next-generation intraoral scanner (IOS) developed by Scan4All SAS (Biotech Dental Group, France) in collaboration with world-renowned designer Philippe Starck.

Photogrammetry — Why It's Different
Conventional intraoral scanners use a single camera sensor to capture sequential images and stitch them together one by one. This approach causes cumulative drift — small errors in each frame propagate to the next, growing progressively larger as the scan distance increases. In full-arch scanning, where dozens of images must be stitched from one end of the arch to the other, the error is greatest at the extremities of the final dataset.
IRIS addresses this fundamental limitation through three independent camera sensors and photogrammetry technology. The three sensors simultaneously capture images from different angles, and the photogrammetry algorithm calculates 3D coordinates at each point independently through triangulation. Rather than sequentially stitching images, IRIS independently computes global coordinates at every capture moment, so errors do not accumulate regardless of scan distance.
A 1200×1200 high-resolution sensor and AI-powered automatic shape and texture recognition complement this, delivering both speed and accuracy.

Expected Clinical Impact
This structural drift reduction translates to meaningful clinical differences:
With conventional methods, full-arch digital impressions frequently led to prosthesis misfit, manual adjustments, and rescans due to cumulative error. IRIS's photogrammetry approach inherently reduces distance error between arch endpoints, significantly improving the reliability of digital impressions — especially in extensive prosthetic cases such as long-span bridges (6+ units) and All-on-4/6 implants where accuracy demands are highest. Additionally, in edentulous regions where conventional scanners struggle due to lack of surface features, the three-sensor simultaneous multi-view capture enables stable coordinate calculation.

Benefits for Dentists
① Reliable Full-Arch Scanning — Reduced cumulative drift enables accurate digital impression data even for All-on-4/6 implants and long-span bridges. Fewer rescans required.
② Stable Scanning in Edentulous Areas — Simultaneous three-sensor capture provides coordinate stability even in featureless edentulous ridges — the weak spot of conventional scanners.
③ No Caps, No Powder — Scan translucent tooth surfaces immediately without powder. Less patient discomfort, shorter chair time, no powder cleanup.
④ IP67 Full Waterproofing — Stable performance in saliva environment. Simple infection control through direct water washing.
⑤ 120g Ultralight + Philippe Starck Design — Ergonomic form factor minimizing wrist and finger fatigue during extended scanning sessions.
⑥ Battery-Free USB Direct Connection — Simultaneous high-speed data transfer and stable power delivery. No battery degradation or charging wait time; continuous use ready.

Benefits for Dental Laboratories
① Fewer Remakes — More accurate scan data from reduced drift translates to better prosthesis fit, directly lowering remake rates and improving profitability.
② Digital Conversion of Extensive Cases — Full-arch and long-span cases previously dependent on analog impressions due to insufficient IOS accuracy can now enter the digital workflow. Expands the lab's digital order intake.
③ Cleaner Scan Data, Faster CAD Design — AI-powered recognition reduces noise, minimizing manual corrections in CAD. Shorter design time per case.
④ Reliable Remote Workflows — Accurate scan data reduces communication errors and remake risks in remote digital workflows, ensuring quality stability for international prosthetic orders.
